The Counselling Service is there to enable students develop their own skills and resources to cope with life's problems - especially the more difficult ones.  In the ideal world there would be no sorrow or worry.  In the real world, however, we all suffer pain, anxiety, frustration and stress and sometimes we do not have the close family network, friends or support groups to give us the understanding and empathy we need.  Counselling is not a magic wand, nor is it a betrayal of loyalties and it is certainly not a "complaints bureau".  It is a non-judgmental, confidential and objective support service for students who need "ears" to hear and listen to their problems.
