| St Joseph's College offer students the opportunity of participating in Gaisce The President's Award). The Transition Year students are encourage to challenge for the Bronze Award with the possibility of progressing to the Silver Award in Fifth Year. Gaisce is the National Challenge Award from the President of Ireland to the young people of Ireland between 15 and 25 years of age. The purpose of the award is to encourage young people to set and achieve a demanding challenge for themselves in each of four different areas of activity as follows: Personal Skill - e.g. learning to type or play a musical instrument. Community Involvement - e.g. helping at a local Nursing Home Physical Recreation - e.g. playing basketball Venture Activity - e.g. organising a week-end at a Youth Hostel |
