Rainbows
Rainbows is a programme of group support for people who are grieving or coping with loss in their lives.  Through bonding and sharing of experiences the group is enabled to come to a deeper acceptance of their loss - be it through death, separation or painful transition.  The programme is not a counselling or therapy session.  It is strictly a voluntary peer support group with a trained adult present.
Students share their experiences of loss, support each other and light a candle for each dear one who has departed from their lives.  This creates strong emotional and healing bonds and promotes deeper understanding of what has happened.  A special remembrance Mass is also held.
The programme is usually run over a 10 week period with one session per week in the school hall at lunch-time.  A number of teachers has been trained in the Rainbows programme and act as facilitators during the group sessions.
